Nurse Anesthetists
At HSS, we will never stand in the way of fresh and innovative thinking. So when you join us as a nurse anesthetist (CRNA)—an advanced practice nurse (APN)—your ideas and enthusiasm will ensure our medical and nursing practice, and our organization, is constantly growing and improving. You’ll work independently and in collaboration with HSS physicians and surgeons in one of a variety of specialties & subspecialties to analyze each step of the care and treatment process, and develop clear strategies that help our patients achieve optimal healing and recovery.
At HSS, CRNAs provide anesthesia and anesthesia-related care services upon request, assignment, and referral by the patient’s physician/surgeon most often to facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures.

Here are just a few of the many benefits you'll experience at HSS:
Onboarding & General Orientation
When you join HSS as a nurse anesthetist, you’ll receive new employee orientation to the hospital, clinical & logistics orientation, an orientation specifically designed for advanced practice, and EHR (Epic) training for prescribers. You’ll be partnered with an experienced mentor in your service, invested in your success, and receive six to eight weeks of specialty training in your role. Through a series of check-ins, they’ll provide the valuable advice and feedback you need to achieve your goals.
Advanced Practice Council
Meeting monthly, the advanced practice council gathers all HSS NPs and CRNAs in a structured forum to discuss all issues related to the advanced practice role: clinical practice, quality, safety, professional development, peer review, training, outcomes and value, optimization of services, etc.
Professional Development
We never stop learning. Here at HSS, you’ll have the chance to enhance your clinical knowledge and skill sets through grand rounds, lectures & presentations, case studies, peer review, etc. Additionally, through the Center for Advanced Practice Nursing, CRNAs receive a generous continuing education benefit to support conference registration & travel, along with funding for renewal of professional licensure, board certification, CPR certification, and membership to a professional organization.
