Dr. Matthew V. Abola is a dedicated orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. Dr. Abola's philosophy of care is founded on evidence-based practice and emphasizes building a relationship of trust with his patients.
 
Dr. Abola completed his fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity at the Hospital for Special Surgery and graduated residency at New York Langone Orthopedic Hospital. Dr. Abola has trained in minimally invasive, arthroscopic procedures with internationally, world renowned experts in Hong Kong, France, and Japan. He received his medical degree from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine where he graduated with Honors with Distinction in Research as well as a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. He received the Alfred S. Maschke Award for demonstrating excellence in the art and practice of medicine. Dr. Abola completed undergraduate studies at Princeton University, where he played football. 
 
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Abola is dedicated to scientific research and innovation. He has received numerous grants, awards, and distinctions for his published studies and book chapters. He presents his research at major national and international conferences and serves as a reviewer for leading orthopedic journals. He is an active member of both the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH).
