Dr. Amar Ranawat is an orthopedic surgeon at HSS specializing in total hip and total knee replacement, revision total hip and total knee replacement, and periprosthetic fractures.

Born in New York City, he received his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College in 1996 before completing an internship at The New York Hospital and a residency at Hospital for Special Surgery. In 2002, he completed his fellowship training in adult reconstruction under the direction of his father Dr. Chitranjan S. Ranawat.

Throughout his career, Dr. Ranawat has received numerous academic and professional accolades, including the Chief Resident's Special Award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Hip Society British Traveling Fellowship, and the James A. Rand Award.

Dr. Ranawat is actively involved in clinical orthopaedic research. He has presented numerous times on both the national and international level. His current interests include alternative bearings in the hip and rotating-platform technology in the knee.

The Team

Roxann Henry is the office’s Medical Secretary.  Her responsibilities consist of scheduling appointments, preparing and forwarding any necessary medical forms/documents, and preparing medical records by request.  Roxann also assists in arranging and preparing pre-operative and post-operative appointments, including all relevant documentation related to each appointment.  Roxann is a great source of information and will also be able to answer questions regarding your appointment or surgery.

Julie Pate is a Physician Assistant who has been with the office for over fifteen years.  Julie is a fine extension of the practice, providing insight and assistance to all patient care in the office.  She works with patients from their first appointment and plays a key role in various aspects of patient care, from pre-operative evaluations to post-operative care.
