About Dr. Shahi
Dr. Vikas Shahi is a primary sports medicine physician at HSS who specializes in both emergency medicine and non-operative sports medicine. He sees patients of all ages and athletes of every level and sport, with a particular interest in working with basketball athletes.
An avid basketball player and marathon runner who grew up playing various sports, Dr. Shahi understands the athletic mindset and enjoys helping patients return to play and achieve their performance goals. He offers interventional care for joint, muscle and other soft tissue injuries, including ultrasound-guided injections and other minimally invasive procedures.
Dr. Shahi has served as a team physician at the high school level and has experience serving as a team physician for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Guardians, Cleveland Charge, USA Hockey National Team Developmental Program, and John Carroll University.
After graduating Summa Cum Laude from UCLA in 2014, Dr. Shahi earned his medical degree as a member of the inaugural class at California Northstate University College of Medicine in 2019. From there, he completed a four-year residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Michigan, followed by a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic. His clinical research interests include better understanding the role of mental health in athletes, emergency sideline care of athletes, and the use of novel minimally invasive tools in tendinopathy.
