Scott W. Wolfe Traveling Hand Surgical Fellowship
The Scott W. Wolfe Traveling Hand Surgical Fellowship will enable post-graduate subspecialty education and surgical training for HSS Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery fellows by visiting national and international centers of excellence.
Eligibility: Two fellowships will be awarded each year to the graduating class of HSS Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery fellows, beginning in 2025.
Program Highlights
- Fellows will be awarded a maximum of $25,000.00 to cover travel expenses, accommodation, course registration(s), and meals during their fellowship.
- 4-8 weeks in duration, must be completed within three months of graduation from HSS Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship.
- Travel expenses to the Annual HSS Alumni Association Meeting and/or HSS Hand Conference of the year following the fellowship will be covered for accepted abstracts.

Fellowship Requirements
- Fellows are expected to present a report of their travels to the HSS Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Service at Thursday Morning Conference.
- A final report and Annual HSS Alumni Association Meeting presentation abstract will be due October 30 of the award year.
Application Process
Step 1: Candidates must submit the online application with the following supporting documentation. Applications must be submitted by January 1st of the fellowship/award year.
- Updated CV
- Any proposed educational courses that would complement the training
- Anticipated duration of the fellowship and estimated budget for travel and expenses
- One-page personal statement
- Two recommendation letters from Hand Surgery mentors
- Digital photo (passport size; 2" x 2")
Step 2: Upon complete review of the application, selected candidates will be extended an invitation into the program along with additional information. Recipient(s) will be notified by March 1st of the fellowship/award year.
