Patient Case History: Kim
Tibial Lengthening with the LATN Technique
Pre-Op
Patient Surgeon: S. Robert Rozbruch
Kim had a congenital left leg shortening of one inch leading to knee and back pain. Notice her standing on her left toes.

Post-Op
We lengthened her tibia with a lengthening and then nailing (LATN) technique. A TSF external fixator was used for gradual lengthening over one month.

Post-Op
After the lengthening phase had ended, a tibial nail was inserted and the frame was removed. With the LATN she wore the external fixator for just one month.

Follow-Up
Her leg lengths are equal and her back and knee pain have improved. Notice Kim's beautiful needlepoint.
