Patient Case History: Dino
Joint Salvage Reconstruction of Ankle with Osteotomy and Distraction
Pre-Op
Patient Surgeon: S. Robert Rozbruch
Dino Crushed his ankle while on duty as a firefighter. Despite initial treatment elsewhere, he developed a severe deformity of the tibia above the ankle (shortening, recurvatum, and varus), and arthritis and contracture of the ankle.

Post-Op
An osteotomy of the tibia and fibula was performed and with a TSF, gradual correction of both the bony deformity and the ankle contracture was done simultaneously.

Post-Op
With correction of the deformity and distraction, the ankle joint was optimized.

Follow-Up
This joint preservation approach allowed Dino to return to active duty as a firefighter.
