Bone Transport for Reconstruction of a 17cm Bone Defect After Tumor Resection
Pre-Op
Patient Surgeon: S. Robert Rozbruch
Ian was diagnosed with a low grade osteosarcoma and underwent resection of 17 cm of his tibia.

Post-Op
A trifocal bone transport was done to reconstruct the bone defect. Lengthening osteotomies were made at proximal and distal tibia. Note the progression of transport.

Post-Op
At the end of bone transport, there are 2 areas of bone lengthening and no bone defect.

Follow-Up
Ian had a rod inserted to support the new bone. He is doing well and is leading an active lifestyle.
